Salzwelten Hallstatt
About
Salzwelten Hallstatt is a world‑class salt‑mining attraction nestled in the Austrian Lake District. Although the historic mine, funicular and skywalk are under renovation until summer 2026, visitors can still experience a unique underground adventure: a daily shuttle service from Hallstatt to the active Salzwelten Altaussee mine, where massive rock‑salt tunnels, an underground lake and the story of rescued war‑time artwork await. Hallstatt also hosts a free salt‑tasting on selected days, allowing guests to sample the distinct varieties of Austrian salt in a relaxed market setting. For the time being, those eager to explore the subterranean world are encouraged to visit the nearby Salzwelten Salzburg or Altaussee sites; all updates, booking options and construction progress can be checked via the official construction diary on the website.
