About

"Marcus Sitticus, Prince Archbishop of Salzburg, in order to increase the piety of the people, built the church and completed it in the year of the Lord 1616." This is the translation of the inscription above the entrance portal of the Church of St. Francis, known as the "Market Church" in Wagrain. It was built according to the plans of none other than the architect Santino Solari, the architect of Salzburg Cathedral and Hellbrunn Palace. Since 2018 now, this cultural treasure has been freshly renovated and shines in new splendour.
