MAS - Museum aan de Stroom
About
The Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) stands proudly on the banks of the Scheldt River, combining a striking 60‑meter post‑modern façade of sandstone and glass with an inside world of exhibitions that chronicle Antwerp’s maritime heritage, the city’s cultural growth, and artistic expressions from across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The museum houses 470,000 objects, of which 180,000 are presented in the visitor gallery, making it the largest museum in Antwerp. Its changing program showcases contemporary installations and large‑scale thematic exhibitions that connect local history with global stories, while interactive spaces invite visitors of all ages to engage with the collections. MAS therefore offers a multifaceted experience that blends striking architecture, extensive collections, and dynamic programming for travelers and residents alike.
