Museum Mayer van den Bergh
About
The Museum Mayer van den Bergh, located in the former family home of art collector Fritz Mayer van den Bergh on Lange Gasthuisstraat 19 in Antwerp, showcases an extraordinary collection of 14th‑ to 16th‑century Northern Renaissance art, including celebrated works by Pieter Brueghel the Elder and the exquisite Mayer van den Bergh Breviary. Although the historic building is closed for extensive renovations until 2029, visitors can still experience the museum’s treasures in the nearby Maagdenhuis, where the Beloved exhibition (20 June 2025 – 12 September 2027) displays around 90 masterpieces, prominently Brueghel’s world‑famous 'Mad Meg' (Dulle Griet). The museum remains open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering free admission for visitors under 18 and discounted youth tickets. Book online to secure a time block and explore the rich history of the Mayer family and their celebrated collection.
