Smokkelmolen (or "Smuggling Mill") is a luxury Bed & Breakfast & More, in a 500 year old watermill on the border of Belgium and the Dutch city Maastricht in a village called Kanne. Kanne is located peacefully in the lush green valley of the river Jeker. From this beautiful and completely restored landmark you can hike or bike in scenic off-road routes or gentle trails through nature reserves, while the centre of Maastricht is only 5 km. away! The sunny terrace of the Smokkelmolen offers great views over the valley while you enjoy your coffee, breakfast, wine or dinner. Our generous biological breakfast buffet with freshly baked bread from our own flour, homemade jams, fruit, eggs, pancakes and much more is already famous. The suites have comfortable large boxspring beds, a sitting area and desk, airconditioning, free wifi, tv and bathroom with rain shower, wash-basin and wc. All areas are furnished with modern design, while the soul of the old mill is well kept, it's a perfect mix of design and authentic details. In this large mill we offer you various extra’s like a cellar-wine-bar, a living-room with fireplace, a terrace at the waterfront and a private restaurant and cook. Our waterwheel provides renewable energy and on Sunday afternoons you can enjoy the mill in action when we grind our stoneground biological flour.
