Westfront Nieuwpoort takes visitors on a powerful journey through the Battle of the Yser, the flood of 1914 that halted the German advance. Situated on the banks of the river at the Ganzepoot sluice complex, the visitor centre combines the iconic King Albert I monument with interactive exhibits, personal stories and a 180‑degree panorama of the battlefield. Visitors can explore the original panoramic painting of the Battle of the Yser, walk through the landscapes of the inundated Yser plain and climb to a 360‑degree view of the coastal area from the monument’s roof. The site is fully accessible and offers a special rate for visitors with disabilities.
