St. Mary's Chapel Pazardzhik

The chapel is part of a prayer tree for travelers passing through, no matter their faith, to be able to rest for a moment, light a candle, or just sit under the century-old tree and ask God for Help or to Thank Him for the Way. By simply placing their weariness and problems in God's loving hands! The Chapel of St. Mary was erected in 2020 by writer and journalist Iliyan Kuzmanov for the health and well-being of all the citizens of Pazardzhik. It was erected as part of the presentation of Ginyo Ganev's personal library in the Erzoligentsiya Cultural Center- an exposition freely available to the citizens of Pazardzhik from 2020 to 2022. The design was prepared by the sculptor Leon Babachev . In the 300 kg metal structure, reinforced glass with the 300 year old icon of the Holy Virgin Mary in the Tree are embedded. The ceremony of placing the Icon on the Tree was an ancient ritual in the presence of the Four Orthodox Priests representing the Four Cardinal Directions of the World.
