The Citadel restaurant was opened back in 1978 in the small Baranja village of Vardarac. Vardarac is located not far from Osijek and Kopački rit. In the very beginning, the restaurant had only thirty seats, but with years of investment and effort, that number has grown dramatically and today has over two hundred and fifty seats, which include three indoor halls, an enclosed terrace and an open gazebo. Throughout all the years of operation of the restaurant, efforts have been made to maintain the indigenous tradition in the form of interior and exterior decoration, as well as in the gastronomic offer of traditional Baranja dishes. The ambience of the restaurant is decorated rustically in the spirit of times past. Of particular interest is the open gazebo, which is made in the traditional way with a reed roof, columns of beams over a hundred years old, and paved with old brick.
