Aquarium Pula
About
Aquarium Pula is the largest aquarium in Croatia, nestled within the 140‑year‑old Austro‑Hungarian fortifications of Fort Verudela and the San Giovanni Battery on the Pula peninsula. The 4,000‑square‑meter complex showcases a diverse palette of marine life from the Adriatic and Mediterranean Seas, as well as exotic tropical and freshwater exhibits. Highlights include the Gallerion naval exhibition featuring Austro‑Hungarian warships, expansive tide‑pool displays, a butterfly walk, and the panoramic “Window to the Sea.” As a conservation hub, the aquarium actively supports projects for sea turtles, marine mammals, and endangered species, while offering interactive displays, guided tours, and educational programs that delight families, nature lovers, and school groups alike.
