Villa Amalia - Liburnia
About
The magnificent story of this Opatija villa began back in 1890 when it was built as an annexe to the Hotel Kvarner. The Villa Amalia (4*) in Opatija, Croatia, is situated right by the sea along the famous Lungomare seafront promenade. Surrounded by a lush green park dotted with Mediterranean and exotic plants, it soon became a popular winter health resort for the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. This villa was also the favourite choice of the German imperial family and the charismatic American dancer Isadora Duncan, who found inspiration for her dance movements in the fluttering of the palms that grew next to the villa. The Opatija sculptor Tatjana Kostanjević created a sculpture of her that is today situated in front of the villa. The Villa Amalia is located next to the Hotel Kvarner, and its guests can enjoy all the hotel's services and amenities, including conference halls, an outdoor pool and the beach.
