Zagreb Zoo
About
The Zagreb Zoo, officially known as Zoologic Garden of Zagreb, is one of the oldest and largest zoos in Croatia. Spanning 5.5 hectares within the historic Maksimir Park, the Institute hosts more than 7,000 animals representing 383 species, from towering lions and giant giraffes to colorful birds and fascinating reptiles. Established in 1925, the zoo has grown into a modern conservation hub, offering educational programs, interactive exhibits, and thematic areas such as the African Village, Madagascar, and the Madagascar Climate zone. Visitors can walk through well‑designed enclosures, watch animals during scheduled feeding times, and participate in school‑focused learning programmes. The zoo’s visitor experience blends wildlife wonder with hands‑on learning, making it a must‑visit destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the preservation of fauna.
