About

Özerlat has been roasting and selling gourmet coffee for just over 100 years. The company’s founder, Dervis ‘Tahmis’ Özerlat, started the business in 1917 in Ermou Street in Nicosia, when he became the first person to introduce freshly roasted Turkish coffee to Cyprus. First, he was roasting Turkish coffee and grinding it with his large stone mortar for his own use; but then to his neighbours who were overwhelmed by the smell of his coffee in Ermou Street. This earned him the nickname Tahmis, meaning ‘coffee roaster’. Today, 3rd and 4th generation Özerlats are working together to produce even better tasting Turkish Coffee, Espresso and Filter coffee to present this unique taste, that was once born in Ermou, to the world; and to continue to overwhelm coffee-lovers in their café situated in Arasta Street.
