Castle Tower
About
The Castle Tower above the Market Colonnade is the remnants of the castle that was established by Charles IV in 1349. The tower was reconstructed several times, and we can consider the most recent work to be the Baroque-like façade dating to 1878. Following an extended period during which most of the tower was unused and publicly inaccessible, it has again come to life in 2022. On the occasion of the first anniversary of Karlovy Vary’s inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with ten other European towns, the town has prepared an interactive exhibit that presents this transnational series to visitors. Part of the tower is the arcade gallery, from which prominent guests to the spa were ceremoniously greeted with fanfares. This gallery, providing an exquisite view of the town, can be now also enjoyed by you. Come and learn in a playful form about all eleven spa towns that together represent the Great Spa Towns of Europe!
