New City Hall Viewing Tower
About
The New City Hall Viewing Tower in Ostrava is a striking steel structure standing 73 metres above the city, offering one of the highest observation decks in the Czech Republic. Visitors reach the tower via a dedicated staircase and elevator located in the sixth floor of the new city hall, with a separate disabled‑friendly entrance on the right side. The tower’s interior is a minimalist design in the functionalist style, featuring metal cladding, bronze and marble accents and timber detailing. At the summit, guests can enjoy free, high‑powered binoculars that give an intimate look at the surrounding panorama. From the observation deck, the view stretches across the industrial heart of Ostrava to the Beskydy mountains and, on clear days, as far as the Polish border. The surrounding plaza offers a quiet spot to sit, relax, and soak in the city’s skyline. The tower is fully accessible and well equipped with multilingual interpretive panels that enrich the visitor experience. Opening hours run daily from 9:00 to 19:00, with a slight midnight‑hour adjustment (9–17) during the winter months, and it remains open on public holidays. recommended_visit":3600,
