The Museum of Central Pootaví Strakonice is a contribution organization of the South Bohemian Region. It is located in the grounds of the Strakonice Castle , which was founded by the Bavarian family from Strakonice at the confluence of the Otava and Volyňka rivers in the first quarter of the 13th century. The castle area is one of the oldest and most extensive in Bohemia due to its preservation, and in 1995 the Ministry of Culture declared it a national cultural monument . The museum, founded in 1894, manages permanent exhibitions in the premises of Strakonice Castle and, since 2008 , also the unique area of the water mill in Hoslovice .
