About

The legendary Prague cinema and café are just a few steps away from Masaryk's Train Station and Florence Main Bus Station, presenting often English-Friendly films (in English or with English subtitles). We are located in the basement of a functionalist building built between 1939-1942 according to the project of František Stalmach and Jan Svoboda, students of Pavel Gočár. The functionalist architecture is also reflected in the interiors, with extensive use of marble. Originally a post-war cinema Sokolovo underwent reconstruction after November 1989, during which it was affected by floods. From its restart in 2004 until the end of its activity at the end of 2022. In spring 2023, the cinema was reopened by a group of filmmakers and producers, started to operate also Café Atlas of Plants (in Czech: Café Atlas rostlin) and Gallery of Karel Vachek, exhibiting complete paintings by one of the most original Czech filmmaker Karel Vachek (1940-2020).
