Lobkowicz Palace
About
The House of Lobkowicz is a living testament to seven centuries of Czech history, housed in a stunning 16th‑century palace overlooking the heart of Prague Castle. Visitors explore a vast private collection that includes works by Bruegel, Canaletto, Rubens, Velázquez, and an exceptional array of arms, armor, ceramics, and musical instruments. The palace also hosts a café, a shop, and a series of galleries where the family’s music archives and curated exhibitions bring to life the Story of a noble house that survived two confiscations—first by the Nazis in 1939, then by the Communist regime in 1948. In addition to the main palace, the House of Lobkowicz manages four other historic sites: Nelahozeves Castle, the Birth House of Antonín Dvořák, Roudnice Castle, and the Střekov Castle ruin. Each venue offers free admission to members, regular festivals, and music concerts that celebrate the family’s rich musical heritage. Whether you are planning a family day out, a scholarly research visit, or a romantic evening at a wedding, the House of Lobkowicz delivers an immersive cultural experience that blends art, history, and hospitality in one of Czechia’s most iconic settings.
