Botanical Garden and the Greenhouses
About
The Botanical Garden and Greenhouses in Aarhus is a verdant oasis in the city centre, offering a unique blend of science, history, and natural beauty. Covering 21.5 ha, the complex features four climate zones that take visitors on a global journey from tropical rainforests to arid deserts, all under one roof. In addition to the greenhouses, a sprawling botanical garden offers open‑air displays, a lagoon, an amphitheatre, and a playground—making it a favourite spot for families and school groups. Free admission to the greenhouses encourages spontaneous exploration, while guided tours (available by reservation) provide in‑depth insight into plant ecology and conservation. The on‑site café serves traditional Danish fare in a relaxed, family‑friendly setting, and seasonal celebrations such as “Jul i Væksthusene” transform the gardens into festive wonderlands each winter. Contact the science museums at +45 871 55415 or sm@au.dk to arrange a guided visit or to inquire about special events.
