Summer season open museum: June, July and August. For more than 200 years, from its foundation in 1758, the Gunpowder Works in Frederiksværk was the principal supplier of gunpowder and explosives to the Danish armed forces. This open air museum offers a unique glimpse into the history of the manufacture of explosives as well as the process of industrialisation in Denmark. The museum is open tuesday-sunday day in June, July and August. Monday is closed. In week 42 open Tuesday to Sunday.
