Visborggaard Castle Visborggaard Castle is a historical renaissance Castle which is first mentioned in a letter issued by the Danish king Valdemar Atterdag in 1351. Since then, the castle has housed several big families including that of Jakob Seefeld. Jakob Seefeld was a member of “Rigsrådet” (the Danish National Council), the first to produce glass in Denmark and he established limestone mines, which sold limestone to the many constructions led by the Danish king Christian IV. Jakob Seefeld rebuilt Visborggaard Castle after a major fire in 1542 during the Count’s feud. He rebuilt the castle with a three-winged main building in two floor and with seven towers of which two still remain today. Furthermore, he has had a great influence on the Church of Visborg and the geographical landscape of Mariager Fjord. The White Horse King Christian X’s famous white horse “Malgré Tout”, which the king rode across the border July 10th, 1920, when Southern Jutland became Danish once again.
