Copenhagen Opera House
About
The Copenhagen Opera House, Denmark’s national opera venue, opened in 2005 and designed by Henning Larsen. Its neo‑futurist architecture showcases a striking glass façade framed by Jura Gelb limestone panels, creating a visually striking landmark on Holmen island. Inside, the main auditorium can seat 1,700 guests and features a large, acoustically‑engineered orchestra pit that holds up to 110 musicians. The foyer boasts massive spherical chandeliers by Olafur Eliasson and a tiled floor that accentuates the building’s modern aesthetic. The complex also houses the experimental theatre Takkelloftet, a versatile, intimate stage that supports a range of performances. Together, architecture, acoustics and design make the opera house a must‑visit destination for both operatic and cultural enthusiasts in Copenhagen.
