Human Library Reading Garden

About

The Human Library is a not-for-profit organization in Denmark. Since 2020 we have operated a small Human Library Reading Garden in the heart of Copenhagens Nørrebro neighbourhood. The garden is a safe space to explore our humanity, learn about our diversity and challenge our own bias and understanding. The service is free to readers but requires that they accept our "Rules for readers" and obtain a Library Card to borrow our books. The Human Library has reached readers in more than 85 countries around the world since we started in 2000. But the Reading Garden in Copenhagen is the only one of its kind in operation. We run programs in schools, work places and public spaces to help build a greater understanding for the diversity in our communities.
