It is about 3 km to the 700-year-old merchant town of Skælskør, where beautiful, historic half-timbered buildings and courtyard lots with cobblestones make a stroll a real experience. In the surrounding area there are several manor houses such as Borreby, Holsteinborg and Espe, where H.C. Andersen once stayed. Within a distance of 30 km are the towns of Korsør, Slagelse and Næstved - each with an older town center and newer architecture. 7 km southwest of Skælskør is Stigsnæs, from where ferries run to the islands of Agersø and Omø, 2 charming islands with a cozy harbor ambience and pretty nature.
