Maiasmokk Cafe
About
Maiasmokk Cafe, located on Pikk 16 in Tallinn’s Old Town, is Estonia’s oldest operating café. Since 1864 its historic interior has remained largely unchanged, offering visitors a taste of the past alongside fresh pastries, pies, cakes and specialty custard and marzipan sweets famously produced by the Kalev company. Beyond the café, the building houses a small museum dedicated to marzipan, featuring over 200 handcrafted figures and a live marzipan artist. The café’s two floors provide a relaxed, cozy setting near St. Olav’s on Pühavaimu Street, a short walk from Town Hall Square and the Great Guild. In addition to daily café services, Maiasmokk hosts events ranging from seminars and meetings to Christmas parties in its upper‑level rooms, which can accommodate up to 200 guests. Visitors can book these event spaces online for €20 per hour (Otto Kubo Room) or €130 per day, and gift cards valued at €10 or €50 are available for purchase. Green‑Key certified sustainability practices underscore the café’s commitment to environmentally friendly operations.
