About
The Russalka Memorial (Estonian: Russalka mälestussammas) is a bronze monument in Kadriorg, Tallinn, erected on 7 September 1902 by sculptor Amandus Adamson to commemorate the sinking of the Russian warship Rusalka in 1893. The statue depicts an angel holding an Orthodox cross pointing toward the direction of the shipwreck, symbolizing remembrance. It is the first monument in Estonia created by an Estonian sculptor and stands prominently at Pirita Tee 1, overlooking the Bay of Tallinn and just opposite Kadriorg Park. The memorial serves as a poignant reminder of Estonia’s maritime history and a tribute to those lost at sea.
