Theater of performance arts and entertainment. We operate in two buildings and stages Seminaarin näyttämö, Satamakatu 3 and Sissilinna, Asemakatu 6. Our main stage Teatteritalo at kauppakatu 14 is currently under renovation process and we will be back on the autumn of 2024 Kajaani City Theatre is one of Finland’s leading theatres. It started as an ensemble-based repertoary theatre over a century ago. Today it is well-known for its ambitious and open-minded approach towards arts, society at large and manifestations of diversity in human experience with a special focus on issues relevant to the people in the region. The select plays are often Finnish novelties premiering in Kajaani. Kajaani City Theatre is also one of Finland’s five regional theatres. It tours mainly within the Provinces of Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia which consists of 38 municipalities with the population totalling 300,000.
