About
The Historial de la Grande Guerre is a dual‑site museum complex that brings the First World War to life in Péronne and Thiepval. The Péronne Historical Museum, housed in the medieval Château de Péronne, offers a comprehensive narrative of the war’s military, social and cultural dimensions through more than 75 000 artifacts, interactive exhibitions and guided tours. The Thiepval Site Museum, located next to the Franco‑British Memorial, focuses on the battles of the Somme and features immersive displays, panoramic murals and the famous “1 July 1916” painting by Joe Sacco. Together they provide a richly layered exploration of the Great War that appeals to history buffs, families with children and school groups alike.
