Chateau de Serrant
About
Château de Serrant is a magnificent Loire castle perched in the heart of Anjou, boasting over five centuries of history and one of the most extensive collections of antique furniture, tapestries and artworks in France. The castle’s carefully preserved rooms—from the opulent Louis XV apartments to the medieval chapel—offer visitors a vivid window into aristocratic life across the ages. Visitors can choose a self‑guided tour of around 1½ hours, exploring 15 key rooms including the grand salon, the famous ebony cabinet, the chapel, and the expansive park. For a more intimate experience, a guided tour allows access to the library, the Empire bedroom and the Duchess’s apartment, with a slightly longer duration. Guided tours are recommended to ensure a smooth visit, especially during peak periods. The castle charges a modest admission fee: €10 for adults, €5.5 for children aged 8‑15, and €7.5 for students, disabled persons and other reduced fare categories. Children under 7 enter free. An annual pass is also available for €20, providing unlimited visits for the following year. Staying true to its heritage, Château de Serrant offers a family‑friendly environment with guided tours, festive events such as Christmas visits, outdoor gardens, and opportunities for research and educational programs, making it a must‑visit destination for history lovers, art enthusiasts and curious travellers alike.
