Zoo De Labenne
About
The Zoo de Labenne is a family‑friendly wildlife experience nestled on the southern coast of the Landes, just a 20‑minute drive from Bayonne and Hossegor. Spanning an impressive 5 hectares, the park houses over 350 animals across more than 70 species, from lynx and wolves to lemurs, wallabies and dromedaries. Visitors are invited to wander through themed enclosures that span the continents, with interactive displays and daily feeding opportunities that bring the animals closer than ever. A highlight of the season is the new Amazonian Zone, home to the charismatic Saïmiris and the large Toucan Toco, both housed in luxurious, lush enclosures that replicate their natural habitats. For adventure seekers, a raptor enclosure showcases African and South American birds of prey, including an impressive Verreaux’s eagle. Beyond the animal exhibits, Zoo de Labenne offers hands‑on activities such as the ‘Zoo Keeper For A Day’ experience, which comes in 3‑ and 4‑hour options, allowing guests to help care for the animals under expert guidance. The park also features a mini‑farm for softer moments, a snack and picnic area, and a new playground for children. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a history lover fascinated by animal conservation, or a family looking for an engaging day out, Zoo de Labenne promises a memorable, educational adventure set against the scenic backdrop of the Landes forest.
