From the middle of the 13th century, the archives attest to the existence of the Château de Clermont, residence of the Counts of Geneva destroyed in 1630. Its remains, protected by the forest, are still studied by archaeologists and historians today. At the foot of this castle, in 1576-80, Monsignor Gallois Regard, a native of the country who had become rich and powerful after a career with the popes in Rome, had his pleasure residence built. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1950, this rare example of Renaissance architecture in the former Duchy of Savoy will surprise you with its monumental facade and interior galleries ...
