Les Nuits Lumiere
About
Les Nuits Lumière is an annual winter illumination festival that transforms the historic streets of Bourges into a nighttime wonderland. Every evening from 18:30 until 21:00 (exclusively on the 24th and 31st December, which close at 19:30 and 23:30 respectively), the city’s façades come alive with rotating lights, music, and interactive art. The event showcases innovative light‑mapping that paints the Centre National Supérieur d’Art (ENSA) with arcs of color that echo the myth of Ursine, the blue bear symbol of the festival. The Hôtel Lallemant’s courtyard is decked in a vivid display titled “Ursine fête Noël,” celebrating the holiday spirit. Visitors stroll through illuminated alleyways, witnessing how night can re-envision familiar architecture in an enchanting, immersive way that blends culture, technology, and the charm of Parisian‑style markets. Whether you’re a family, a couple, or a culture enthusiast, this event offers a unique enrichment of the French winter experience right in the heart of Bourges.
