Musee des Beaux-Arts de Calais
About
Standing opposite the Parc Richelieu, the Calais Museum of Fine Arts houses a vast collection of paintings, sculptures and photographs dating from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century. On the ground floor, the Rodin, from Paris to Calais room is dedicated to the works of the famous sculptor and his studies for the Monument to the Burghers of Calais. The Museum of Fine Arts in Calais is entering a new period of transformation and a makeover of its inside spaces. It is remodelling its interior to offer new permanent exhibition areas devoted to the fine arts. Almost two hundred works are ready to be discovered in an exhibition that will immerse us in the history of art from the 16th century to modern times. Several different themes will help to explain the development of artistic practices and tastes, particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries.
