Maison de Laura is a traditional long farmhouse built in 1876. The barn was once used to store and make wine but has since been converted into a Gite which is 80 mts over two floors. On the ground floor is a fully equipped kitchen with ceramic hob electric oven, dish washer, washing machine, large fridge with separate freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and all possible items for the kitchen. There is a dining area with table and chairs and in the lounge area are two sofas, flat screen TV with English or French satellite television, dvd player, games and books available. Upstairs there are both double and twin bedrooms with built in wardrobes. The bathroom is fully tiled and has a large walk in shower room. There is a south facing swimming pool which is very secluded. Outside is a terrace with eating area and plancher style bar-b-cue. If you choose the B&B option you will stay in the main house in the charming bedroom with its antique bed. The room also has tea and coffee facilities and a small fridge. The private bathroom has a rolled top bath and hand held shower. There is no separate shower cubicle. Linen and fresh towels are supplied. You are welcome to relax in the garden, swim in the pool and have access to your room at all times. Guests will find a warm welcome at Maison de Laura where we blend the luxury and comfort of a good bed and breakfast with the warm friendly and personal atmosphere only achieved in a family home. We are available most of the time should you need help or information. Maison de Laura is situated in a valley 20 minutes north of Carcassonne in the foothills of Montagne Noire in the small village of Salsigne. There is a local shop selling most items including fresh bread and croissants. We are within walking distance of the Cathar castles of Lastours. The historic walled city of Carcassonne is 30 minutes by car and 15 minutes to the canal du Midi where you can take a boat trip or simply walk along the canal banks or even hire bikes and cycle along the banks. .In Carcassonne on a Saturday there is a market selling local produce and often live music playing which all adds to the atmosphere. It is ideal for walking holidays as we are in the heart of the countryside. You do need your own transport to really enjoy the area.
