Maison de Mallast is a large historic house, offering chambres d'hôtes (B&B), as well as a 2-bedroom apartment, Gîte de Mallast in a charming medieval village near Carcassonne. We offer a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and a beautiful garden in the centre of Montolieu, the 'village of books', with all its amenities within just a few steps. Beneath our 12th century house and Gîte de Mallast lie the remains of Chateau de Mallast, the fortress which protected the village and its inhabitants from invasion from the 5th to 12th centuries! We serve breakfast either on our garden view terrace or in the dining room where once a French president dined! Steps lined with ancient wisteria lead down to the tranquil garden, where there are lovely sunny and shady places to sit and relax! Our seasonal Restaurant de Mallast offers opportunities to sample wonderful regional produce and wines indoors in winter and either on the terrasse or in the large garden in summer.
