Musee De L'ours Des Cavernes
About
More than 28 000 years ago, in the Granier mountain range, the “Balme à Collomb” cave was home to peculiar prehistoric inhabitants… Ursus spelaeus (cave bears). The Cave Bear Museum shines a light on this exceptional site and this emblematic animal that occupied this hibernation cave for thousands of years. The museum lets you travel back in time and follow in the footsteps (or should that be “pawprints”?) of this prehistoric bear. During the visit, you become the scientists who excavated the bears’ cave. Quiz tables, animated videos and virtual reality headsets allow you to discover the fascinating world of the cave bear. An immersive show invites the public to discover the life of the cave bear throughout the seasons. Be careful not to come face to face with this prehistoric giant! The museum’s texts and audiovisuals are translated and subtitled into English.
