Chateau Fleur d’Iris is a beautiful mansion located in the village of Fabrezan in the heart of the Corbieres wine region in Occitanie (formerly Languedoc-Roussillon), deep in the South of France. Fabrezan is a popular wine growers village surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills and enjoying a marvellous sunny mediterranean climate. In the village there are 5 restaurants, 3 bars and a tea room open all year round and a doctor, dentist and chemist; there are also spectacular walks, cycle rides, river swimming, horse riding, water sports and many wine producing chateau, local markets and lots more restaurants to visit. Other local attractions include the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi, the Cathar Castles, the Abbeys at Fontfroide and Lagrasse and much more. Easy links to the motorway (A61/E80 exit 25) make this an ideal spot for sight-seeing or as an overnight stay on your way to Spain (45 minutes). Carcassonne and Narbonne are both close (20 minutes), as is the wonderful mediterranean coast (30 minutes). The airports serving this region are Carcassonne, Beziers, Perpignan, Toulouse and Montpellier, all within one hour’s drive. The house was built for a vigneron at the end of the 19th Century and has lots of charm and character and stunning rooms with high ceilings. All original features remain including the terrazzo floors, decorative cornicing, fireplaces, marble staircase, oak and pine parquet flooring and thick stone walls built to keep cool in the summer. There is a courtyard and terrace at the front of the house. There are two B&B rooms available in the main house and a self-contained self-catering apartment located in an independent house adjacent to the main house. Flamingo is an enormous bedroom with a fabulous en-suite bathroom and separate lavatory. There is a claw foot free standing bath and large rain shower and its name comes from the striking Matthew Williamson flamingo wallpaper. The bed is a comfortable super king and the room is furnished in typical French style with antique furniture. There is also a beautiful mantlepiece in the local marble with a gilt mirror above it. There is plenty of room for an extra single bed if required for a small extra charge. Iris is a large and comfortable bedroom with a luxury kingsize Simmons bed and memory foam mattress. The ensuite has a shower, basin and lavatory. The walls are decorated in calming French Grey and there is a wardrobe and antique dressing table. The fully renovated one bedroom apartment has a lovely fully equipped kitchen with fan oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, butler sink and dishwasher. There is a big bathroom with extra large rain shower, antique marble wash stand, a large armoire for storage and a wall mounted illuminated mirror. The dining/living room is very large with a sofa bed, two armchairs, dining room table with four chairs and a feature wood burner and fireplace. The bedroom is compact but cosy and has a luxury king size Simmons bed with memory foam mattress. There is a small private outside area on the terrace where you can eat your meals or sit and soak up the sun. You are also offered a parking space within the grounds.
