About
The Memorial Ascq 1944 recalls the massacre of 86 civilians by soldiers of the 12th SS Hitlerjugend division on the night of 1 to 2 April 1944. Installed on the main site of the executions, the Memorial Ascq 1944 evokes the event and places it in the history of the Occupation of Northern France. The Memorial is also a place of reflection on the fate of civilians during the war. It aims to convey a message of peace, tolerance and fraternity between men. The museum is open every first Sunday of the month and offers a free guided tour through the streets of Ascq to discover the key places of the tragedy.
