Les Cascades du Herisson
About
Les Cascades du Hérisson is a stunning natural attraction located in the Jura Mountains of France. Visitors can explore the dramatic cascade of l’Éventail, the area’s highest fall, alongside a series of smaller waterfalls that form a 7.4 km trail cycling through woodlands, wetlands and rugged peaks. In the heart of the site stands the Maison des Cascades, an interactive museum that showcases the geology, hydrology and legends of the region with films, models and living exhibits. Guided tours are offered daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with a 1½‑hour itinerary that takes guests from the Maison des Cascades to the top of l’Éventail. The experience blends education and adventure, perfect for families, nature lovers and students. The site is also accessible to individuals with reduced mobility, and features a dedicated children's play area and a ‘wonder walk’ for young explorers. Parking is available for cars, buses and motorbikes, and visitors can purchase a Cascad’Pass that includes parking, entrance tickets and a special activity booklet. The area is open year‑round, but the most comfortable weather for hiking is from late spring to early autumn when the falls are in full flow and the forest is lush.
