L'Institut Restaurant
About
L'Institut Restaurant, a flagship bistronomique venue occupying the historic Place Bellecour in Lyon, has long been synonymous with culinary excellence and education. Founded in 1990 by French culinary legend Paul Bocuse and run by the Institut Lyfe, the restaurant offers a menu that blends classic French techniques with contemporary bistro flair, featuring dishes such as salmon gravelax, barrata tartare, and artisanal pastries, with prices ranging from €13 to €40. On 1 August 2025 the restaurant closed temporarily for a comprehensive renovation of its kitchen, interiors, and service areas, with a planned opening in early 2026. During this period visitors can still attend seminars and events in the teaching kitchen, or book private meeting rooms (up to 15 guests) equipped with modern AV and catering facilities. The restaurant’s temporary closure does not affect the Institut Lyfe’s culinary teaching programs. Once re‑opened, diners will enjoy a refreshed ambience, contemporary décor, and renewed culinary promise, all within a central, accessible location on Lyon’s vibrant Place Bellecour.
