About
While this military fort has been closed to the public for 360 years, the Citadelle de Marseille is gradually opening its doors on a permanent basis. The first major step will see our Gardens welcoming neighbours, Marseillais, and tourists from May 2024 onwards. Our ambition? To restore and transform this defensive military fort into a place of life, creation, and culture; a heritage third place of creations and innovations. The Citadelle de Marseille Association is a non-profit organisation under the 1901 Law, and a member of the SOS Group. Since 8 December 2021, it has held a 40-year BEA for Fort d’Entrecasteaux, the upper part of Fort Saint-Nicolas, with two missions: to restore the site and open it to the public.
