Le Vieux Port
About
Le Vieux Port, the historic waterfront of Marseille, has been the heart of the city for over two thousand years. Today visitors can stroll along the marina, enjoying a lively mix of cafés, bars and seafood stalls, or take a short ferry ride across the harbor to the Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée (MuCEM). The area is bordered by the iconic Fort Saint‑Jean to the north and the former Fort Saint‑Nicolas (now La Citadelle) to the south, both of which offer exhibition spaces and panoramic views of the harbor. With its bustling fish market, pedestrianised promenades, and the iconic Transbordeur Bridge, the Old Port offers a rich blend of history, culture, and culinary delights that appeal to families, history enthusiasts and food lovers alike.
