About

Perched majestically on a hilltop surrounded by vineyards overlooking a tranquil Mediterranean lagoon, Château Capitoul is a magnificent Chateau estate and luxury sanctuary set in 200 acres of beautiful unspoilt countryside in the Languedoc, South of France. Initially planted by the phoenicians around 600BC, wines from La Clape were highly sought after across the Roman Empire. It was recognised and elevated to the rank of La Cru La Clape in 2015, joining the most prestigious French appellations and recognized internationally. Spread over 164 hectares, the estate comprises a 100 hectares of pine forests and moorland and 64 hectares of vines that almost stretch to the edge of the lagoon. The vineyard is strongly influenced by the proximity to the Mediterranean and produces wines of great freshness. The cellar at Château Capitoul is open year round for visits and tastings and two informative wine trails allow clients to discover the vineyards on foot or by bike.
