About
In 1879, 56 years old Jean-Henri Fabre bought a one hectare big piece of land in the small village of Serignan-du-Comtat, 20 miles north west of Avignon. The estate includes a "mas" (farm in the south of France) and follow land named "Harmas" in the provencal language. This name has survived and now the whole estate is named so. We can visit his house, his study, real small natural History museum, and his mediterranean garden which Fabre called his "open-air laboratory".
