About
On the hills of Charolles, the Museum welcomes you in the old priory of the Madeleine. Founded in the Xth century, the building, Clunisian site, presents a Renaissance aspect because of its reconstruction in the end of the XVth century. Witness of this period: the ceremonial room, designated Historical Monument and restored in 2003. Do come to discover the richest collection of Charolles’ earthenware, from 1844 to the present day, as well as the paintings of Jean Laronze (1852-1937), and Paul Louis Nigaud (1895-1937), landscape painters from the south Burgundy. Don’t miss, the sculptures of René Davoine (1888-1962), exhibited in the former chapel.
