Les Comediens
About
Paris' Les Comediens restaurant, in the 9th arrondissement, is a favourite among artsy types who flock there for post-theatre dinners as orders can be placed until 12am and because of its enviable location just two steps from the Theatre de Paris and Trinity Church.. But it's also a local favourite for business lunches because of its calm, relaxed atmosphere and extremely professional service. The dining room is a graceful melange of traditional bistrot and chic modern restaurant, with classic wood seating and tables, tobacco-coloured walls, and daily blackboard specials as well as open-to-view rotisserie and ovens, stark flower arrangements, and loftlike ambience. The gregarious and welcoming chef/proprietor Gilles Bellot uses the freshest of ingredients in his daily-changing menu, though there are a few touchstones that always remain. Dishes include roasted cod fillet with buffalo mozzarella and pureed potatoes, sauteed squid Barcelona style, chateaubriand of Aubrac with white truffle and foie gras sauce. Wine carte shows dedication.
