Musee Lambinet
About
The Lambinet Museum was built in the 18th century for a building contractor under king Louis XV. In 1929, the city of Versailles accepted the bequest of Mrs. Nathalie Lambinet in order to set up a museum which opened to the public in 1932. Benefiting from a transfer of the Fine Arts collections from the municipal library and then gradually enriched by purchases, donations and bequests, the Lambinet Museum is a true "collectors' museum". The museum offers a wide variety of works in different techniques from the Renaissance to the mid-20th century: paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, but also furniture and curiosities. The art of living in Versailles, « l’art de vivre », in the 18th century, the history of the city of Versailles and particularly the French Revolution are the main themes of this museum, which has been awarded the "Musée de France" designation since 2004.
