About

It was Pierre Bardou, the son of the founder of the J.O.B cigarette paper company, who, thanks to his family's fortune, first purchased a house on Emile Zola Street in 1852. In 1872, he acquired other neighboring properties and built the first well-lit workshops under a glass roof. Upon his death in 1892 and the construction of a new factory on the other side of the street, his son-in-law, the politician Jules Pams, was finally able to transform the house to his liking. He enlisted the architect Léopold Carlier, who remodeled the monumental staircase adorned with paintings by Gervais, the grand reception rooms, and unified the patio garden and its Art Nouveau galleries. When his wife Jeanne passed away in 1916, Jules Pams remarried two years later to Marguerite Holtzer, who sold this hotel to the city of Perpignan in 1946.
