About
Overlooking the Seine, Château de La Motte Tilly, built in the mid-18th century for Abbé Terray, Controller General of Finances of the King Louis XV, is a perfect example of the art of living "à la française". Surrounded by its gardens and wooded park, with an exceptional collection of works of art and furniture, it combines luxury, tranquillity and harmony. Its current state is the result of an intense campaign of restoration work carried out by the Comte de Rohan-Chabot, a descendant of the Terray family, at the beginning of the twentieth century. His daughter, the Marquise de Maillé, an archaeologist and historian, continued the work, successfully combining authenticity and modernity.
