La Grange Aux Dimes
About
The Tithe Barn of Provins is a 13th‑century stone building that once served as a warehouse for merchant goods and the municipal tithe. Today it hosts a permanent audio‑guided exhibition that brings the medieval fairs of Champagne to life, complete with life‑size figures of merchants, craftsmen and everyday people. Visitors walk through the vaulted cellar, the shop‑floor and the dwelling rooms, observing intricate stonework and sculptures that showcase Provençal architecture of the 12th and 13th centuries. The elm‑timber roof and the well‑kept interior offer a remarkable sense of historical ambience. With a 35‑minute guided tour, the barn is easily accessible to all ages and is free for children under four. The museum’s modest adult ticket is 5 € and the child rate (ages 4‑12) is 3 €, while the Pass Provins, starting at 9,50 €, includes entrance to the Tithe Barn and other medieval monuments. Visitors can purchase tickets online via the Provins Tourisme ticketing portal or buy them on the spot at the tourist office, at any monument in Provins (except the Museum of Provins and the Provinois) and at the SNCF train station information point. The site is open year‑round, with seasonal adjustments to opening hours that generally run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the busy spring and summer months. Throughout the year, it remains a highlight of Provins’ UNESCO‑listed medieval town.
