About

Nestled in the tranquil forest of Éperlecques, the Blockhaus d'Éperlecques is the largest underground bunker in northern France. Built by Nazi Germany as a secret V‑2 launch facility, the massive concrete complex now houses an immersive museum that tells the story of the V‑weapon programme, the wartime resistance, and the human cost of the war. Visitors wander through the original work‑halls, the underground rocket‑production plant, and the eerily intact launch corridor, discovering artefacts, photographs and audio‑visual installations that bring history to life. Guided tours walk the silent halls with expert commentary, while audio guides in eight languages are available at the entrance. The surrounding forest offers walking trails and a quiet setting for reflection, making the blockhaus a powerful site for history lovers and school groups alike.
